Do you agree or disagree with the players involved not getting suspended?

  1. I do not agree with the players involved not getting suspended. Although the game was a good game, intensely fought, that should not be an excuse for fighting on the field or even throwing punches. Players in past games have been suspended for multiple games or even seasons for carrying out actions like some Seahawks players did and the fact that they did not get suspended is very confusing. I think that the punishment should ben suspension from 1 game or sitting the bench the remainder of that game because no one got hurt, people just did not follow the rules of the game.

  2. I do agree with the players not getting suspended because both teams retaliated. Playing in a football game can get extremely heated and intense, especially in a big game like this one. I also agree with Jefferson not being suspended because the fan threw a bottle at him from the stands. This it the security’s fault, not Jeffersons because it’s their fault they let him throw the drink. It’s their responsibility to ensure the players safety from the crowd, and they failed that responsibility.

I believe the players should just be fined. But, I only think Sheldon Richardson and Quinto Jefferson should be fined because their actions were blown way out of proportion. Although Jefferson didn’t start the incident, how he reacted was unacceptable. He should’ve kept walking into the locker room. Sheldon Richardson should be fined because he threw a punch, which is always crossing the line.

  3. I dont agree with the players being suspended. Its a game and people get excited during games. And if you dont get emotional and become a ruckus to deal with, you shouldnt be playing the game. Play to win. Also when Jefferson got a drink thrown at him, his respnose wasnt his own fault. Reacting to a threat is a natural behavior. But when your an NFL player you have to know that you are put on a higher pedistal than other people. Thousands and thousands of strangers watch you everyday and if you are going to act like an ass you get treated like one. There fore he should be fined for his actions. Its sad that we live in that world but like, he should know to control himself.

  4. I agree with not suspending the Seahawks players. While they got more physical than a football game is supposed to be, it was not unjustified. The Jaguars, both fans and players, initiated and instigated these reactions from the Seahawks. Although the actions that they took may have been over the top, they were still justified and right. Because these actions were being taken on both sides, I believe that nobody should get suspended, however fines should be set in place. Both the Jaguars and Seahawks should be fined, not only the Seahawks. Both sides were wrong, therefore not only one should be punished. In regards to the fans, they should've been ejected immediately, and Jefferson did no wrong in the sense that he was defending himself. It is unsportsmanlike for fans to do that, and they shouldn't have even been able to stay the whole game. Ultimately, no one deserves to get suspended, but I believe that fines should be issued.

  5. I believe that none of the players should have been suspended because no one was injured in the process and things were put under control after the incident started, however I think some players should be fined such as Quinton Jefferson because he argued with fans and attempted to climb up to them. Whenever a player interacts with a fan in a negative way they should be fined, however the fan should be removed if they were the one who started the argument. Fines are a less severe punishment than suspending the players but it still sends a message that fighting and arguing with fans won't be tolerated.

  6. I do agree with the players not getting suspended. Actions came from both teams, and there wasn't one outright individual that caused these sequence of events. Although the situation got a bit out of hand and had to be controlled by referees giving unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and ejected certain players, the actions by the players were justified. Given all of this information, I don't think that anybody should be suspended since both teams were involved, I just think that fines should be given out in order to warn the players of their actions, since suspensions would be a bit too intense. Specifically, Quinton Jefferson shouldn't be suspended, only fined, as it wasn't his fault that bottles got thrown at him. Understandably, as he is human, he got a bit outraged, even though he isn't supposed to act his way as he needs to be a role model for those around him in the world of professional sports. I also agree with the actions of the security team in following up with who threw the bottles down onto the field and the punishments that they will be given.

  7. I do not agree with the players not being suspended. Even though things can get heated in the moment, these players are adults and should know that their actions have consequences. Many players have already been suspended for incidents such as these and this issue should be no different. Events such as Marshawn Lynch putting his hands on a ref, and Mike evans taking a cheap shot at another player have resulted in suspensions this season. I believe that Quinton Jefferson had a good reason to go up in the stands, but he should still serve a suspension for his actions. I understand that everyone is human, and that things can get a little heated, but in this day and age these players should know that all of their actions will have consequences.

  8. In my opinion, none of the players involved in the altercation should not have been punished/suspended. In the case where players were fighting on the field while on team was kneeling the ball, it was very unsportsmanlike of the players that went all out when the other team was trying to close out the game. The emotions of the players ran high, and with the frustration of not winning getting to the players, I understand why they had fought on the field. Pete Carroll should not get a suspension because he knew the game was over, and he was trying to calm his team down. In regards to the fans however, the fans should be punished for trying to aggravate a player that had gotten ejected from the game. In all fairness, I may would have acted the same way if someone through something at me while I was walking out of the game. There should be consequences to situations of unsportsman like conduct, but this is not one of them.

  9. I definitely do not agree that the players involved in the FIGHTING/wrestling on the field not getting a suspension. Although the game was very competitive, the players know well enough that if they start something it's going to affect their team and themselves because 1. there will be a flag thrown followed by a penalty 2. there will/should be a fine to the players involved. The biggest turning point was probably Leonard Fournette acting as a tough guy to wreck Bennett instead of separating the 2 players. Quinton Jefferson's ejection is confusinig because we don't know what happened but I would react the same way if a beer bottle/glass was thrown at me as there should be a punishment for the fan that threw it. For the players I think that there should be a 1 game suspension as well as a fine for each one of them of whatever much is seen necessary to make the player realize that it's not okay to fight.

  10. Do you agree or disagree with the players involved not getting suspended?
I do not agree with the players involved not getting suspended. The players behaved poorly and they should be punished accordingly. The players need to learn that just because they are losing in a game does not mean that they can be aggressive on the field and endanger the lives of the other team’s players. In addition, I especially believe that Jefferson should have been suspended. He was about to endanger the lives of fans if there were not officials to hold him back. While the fans did throw beers at him, this is still not an excuse to harm fans. He should understand that the police and security officers will take care of the problem and he can leave it alone.

What punishment do you think the players deserve?
I think that the players deserve a one or two game suspension for their actions. Football is a very dangerous sport and endangering the lives of other players just because they are winning is absolutely not an excuse for that. Jefferson specifically, I believe, deserves an even longer suspension. Fans come to a game of football to have fun and watch the game. They can get a bit rowdy but Jefferson going after some of those rowdy fans is dangerous for everyone. It also leaves the NFL with a very poor image and the action definitely deserves a suspension. It is worth noting that I do not believe that Carol should receive any punishment because he made a very good effort to stop the violence and keep his teammates safe.

  11. I agree with the decision to not to suspend the players. If they want to fight each other the penalties should be handed out on the field during that game, not during other ones. Fights make the game more intense, and the NFL needs intensity. Suspending players who have the passion to fight during the game makes it less fun. People like the NHL because of their fights, and those are way worse than football fights. This kind of behavior should not be encouraged by the league, but it also should not have massive consequences. The punishment should be a personal foul. If the fight gets out of hand, the punishment should be the player gets thrown out of the game.

  12. I do not think a suspension is warranted. Football is not like hockey where an uncalled cheap shot can go without being penalized. I believe that the instigator of fights in football should be given an in game penalty because of them starting it but nothing too severe. But if you were to compare fighting in football to fighting in hockey, they would be two different things. Fighting has a place in hockey because of the fast pace, physical game where cheap shots are easily noticed and people feel the need to retaliate in order to stop someone from committing a cheap shot again. In conclusion, I do not think a suspension is warranted for any Seahawk or Jaguar player.

  13. I don't agree with the players not being suspended. Emotions run in close games like these. But Jefferson deal with not being suspended was a good choice because the NFL should be protecting there players it was there fault letting a fan throw a drink at a player and at the end of it only took the player away not the fan. At the least i believe that they should be suspended one game and fined for there actions

  14. I don't agree with the players not being suspended for fighting each other on the field during the Jaguars-Seahawks game. Football is a very emotional game and tempers flare at times. However, throwing punches and continuing to fight after the play is over is grounds to be suspended. Fighting and throwing punches can lead to cheap shots as the game continues and add danger to an already dangerous game. The league needs to send a message to players that while being aggressive is acceptable within the rules, fighting is absolutely not. Players should be ejected from the game and be suspended an additional game so that the player and the team suffer the consequences of his actions. Holding the player accountable not only for himself but the entire team as well should incentivize players to refrain from fighting and throwing punches after the whistle.

  15. I believe that the seahawks players should have been suspended. In football fighting should never be allowed, whether it is between two players or a player and a fan. Neither of these actions should ever be allowed to happen without severe consequences. Football is a game that you hit someone every play, so there's no reason for players to be fighting after a play. If a player is angry about something they should use that anger on the next play to knock out the player who is lined up across from you, not fight them. A fine and a ejection is not a sufficient enough penalty for a player who decides to start a fight during a game. At the minimum a player who fights another player should receive a hefty fine, an ejection, and a 2 game suspension. The NFL should not tolerate these actions. If a player even etemps to fight a fan no matter what the fan did it is not acceptable for the player to try to fight them too. A player who “tries” to fight a fan should receive hefty fine, an ejection, and at least a 3 game suspension.
